⚡ The quick take - Five equal sub-scores: bonus terms, markets, features, payout speed, licence and safety.
- Licences differ most: Malta, Kahnawake, Curaçao and Anjouan, with very different register results.
- A sportsbook score is separate from the same brand's casino score.
- Several books run separate Ontario and Alberta sites; the ones here are the international versions.
How we pick sportsbooks
A sportsbook makes this list when it accepts players outside Ontario and Alberta and its licence can be found on a regulator’s register or permit list, with two exceptions flagged below. We read the bonus terms, the banking pages and the register entries, and record a confidence level for each fact. Where sources disagree, we note the conflict and pick the newer or stricter reading.
The score uses five equal sub-scores, the same method our how we rate page sets out in full:

What to compare
- Licence first. A Malta licence shown as licensed on the register, a Kahnawake permit, and a Curaçao licence still under assessment are not the same thing. Our guide to choosing a sportsbook explains why.
- Pricing. The margin on every bet outweighs any bonus over a season; our margin guide shows how to check it.
- Bonus terms. Rollover base, minimum odds and parlay rules, all on the sports bonus page.
- Your sports. Coverage varies; start from a sport page such as hockey or soccer.
- Payments. Every book here takes Interac e-Transfer; see the Interac page.
🍁 Ontario and Alberta
Ontario and Alberta run regulated markets. bet365, Betway, BET99 and Sports Interaction run separate provincially registered sites there; Stake, CasinOK, Beazt and others block those provinces. This list covers players aged 19 or over in the rest of Canada, where provincial self-exclusion doesn’t reach offshore books. Set your own limits, and see our responsible gambling page for every provincial helpline. The betting hub links every guide.
FAQ
How are the betting sites ranked?
By a sportsbook score: five equal sub-scores out of 10 for bonus terms, sports and markets, features, payout speed, and licence and safety, averaged. Each input is a published fact with a check date. Commission never changes a score.
Are these betting sites licensed in Canada?
No. They hold licences from regulators outside Canada, such as the Malta Gaming Authority, the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, Curaçao or Anjouan. Outside Ontario and Alberta, the provincial lottery site is the only sportsbook licensed in your province, and provincial protections don't reach offshore books.
Why is a big brand ranked below a smaller one?
The score measures terms and facts, not size. A brand with no sports welcome offer, a heavy rollover or a licence still under assessment loses points there, even if it's well known. Read the sub-scores in each review to see where the points went.
Can I use these sites in Ontario or Alberta?
Not these versions. Ontario and Alberta run regulated markets. bet365, Betway, BET99 and Sports Interaction run separate provincially registered sites there; others block those provinces entirely.
Which deposit method works at most betting sites?
Interac e-Transfer. Every sportsbook on our list accepts Interac, and many also take cards, e-wallets such as MuchBetter, and crypto. Withdrawal times vary by book and method.
